How do you replace samples in an existing .SF2 file?

I need to replace all the existing samples in a soundfont file, and keep all the other settings as they are.
How do you do that without having to reenter all the root keys, etc?

What I'm doing is exporting the existing samples to clean them up with external tools. (remove hiss, hum, retune, etc)
Once that's completed, I need to replace the existing noisy samples with the new cleaned up samples. (not add them)
I need to do this to a large number of .SF2 files.

Eventually I came up with this solution: Export the SoundFont to a Definitions file. This is a text file that can be edited. It contains at the top links to the samples. Now you can simply edit the samples and import the Definitions file to a new SoundFont.
