Default soundfont

Post by dlnewhouse »

I discovered this when trying to load GM soundfonts too small to work with my midi files. Its in the file menu, set default soundfont file. GMGSx.sf2 is the default default soundfont.

GMGSx is the smallest usable GM/GS SoundFont I know of. It is only a starting point!

But it has plenty of instruments in it. The file 16GM.sf2 that used to come with CT cards caused misconceptions because of its small list of instruments, so it was not a good default soundfont. I think the complaining led to the demise of Utopia.

In a related sense, there is a selection in the Options menu of Awave Studio to turn off auto property sheet.

I use the Soniqbear as my default soundfont. The Synergi soundfont is still available as well.

I've tried the soundfonts from the X-fi drivers. I'm really looking for 8GMGS.sf2.
