Add more settings to the "Plug and Play" windows and make it GLOBAL?

I was messing around in Soundfont2 again, and tried out some stuff I have not looked into before. A thought came to me; Why not make all the possibilities her GLOBAL ? So that it will apply to all the FILES in a chosen folder we want to batch convert?

Some temporary ideas:

1. Add any CC number on/of

2. Add chord analyse for each file, and add the chords to a chord track, where the already added audiotrack/loop can read chord info from (if it is acidazed) In this way ACIDized loops can be used to fill up any midifiles. Perhaps in the add layer track? (Dreaming out loud here, as a BiaB owner, I can make ACIDized loops from any Real Track there, and add it to all the batch converted tracks... )

3. Add max/min volume/velocity/other option to all or any channels

4. Add mute/solo to any channel

5. Add change SCALE (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_m ... _and_modes)
As beautifully demonstrated here; https://www.skytopia.com/software/midi/help.html

6. Add REVERSE midi, to create a whole new song from any midifile;

Ok, I better stop now, so at for not drowning you in my dreams...;) But many of this features are already there, it is just so much better if it would be GLOBAL...;)

GLOBAL features may sound like a good idea at first, but...

1. CCs are not actually used much. Volume and Pan are the most used ones, but these can't really easily be made global. Not much meaning in having global Pan at least. Portamento cannot be global. Pedal hold and Legato COULD be, but... It would be a mess. Can't really think of a clever global use of ANY CC right now, but I may be wrong.

2. Would be a major task! Not promising anything in that direction soon.

3. Channel-related global effects are not meaningful in my view. In one tune a piano will play in channel 1, and in the next it will be a pan flute. The only kind of meaningful global effect would have to be tied to a particular instrument in a particular SoundFont, say the pan flute in XXX.sf2 which you think is too loud or too soft. But then a better approach is to use the override to replace it by another pan flute.

4. See above. The same argument.

5. Right now you can easily transpose a song, but not actually change the musical scale (or mode, say from major to minor). Again, I can only see transposing useful as a global function. Interesting that Skytopia mentions "Volume contrast" as a feature. This looks much like the "Vel dynamics" I have in my Mixer. This one could definitely alongside with transpose be a global parameter. It is even meaningful. Mode-changing to me would be an interesting feature to play around with for creating new songs (i.e. cheating), but I am not convinced. The other day I actually heard Yesterday sang in melodic minor on Spotify and it sounded awful. Never again! Not on my playlist.

6. Ha ha! Yes, that CAN be done. There are also numerous other MIDI effects that could be implemented in SynthFont2, for example an arpeggiator. But this may easily become a major project and it has to be done properly in order to be more than a toy. Not very high on my todo-list.

7. Noted to my surprise that the inbuilt Reveerb and Equalizer are NOT global. They were supposed to be. A bug to fix!

1. Ok, I understand your point.. For me personally, it's mostly about the sustain pedal. For transforming a folder of piano songs to any other instrument, brass, organ, accordion for instance... And I have successfully done so in BiaB, by erasing the sustain pedal manually, song by song...

2. Ok, hope I can convince you later then...

3. Ok, but in MY view there is TO MANY midi files that have TO MUCH velocity.. But ok, there IS a software that can do batch of this already, so I can just use that... http://midi-normalizer.sharewarejunction.com/ It's free and it works great...

4. Ok..

5. You actually HAVE IT already.. But not global. Found it yesterday... In other tools and option, I found SCALE TUNING.. Downloaded a bunch of scala files.. Loaded in many different, BUT, i could not make it work.. Could you explain this feature?

6. Haha, yes, I tried it in http://automidiflip.com/ and made some really interesting files.. Also in Reason 10, I have a module called Negate.. Really cool stuff.. But, ok, not batch converting, and not even global, so I have to drag it into every track... Who would have thought that even classical composers used inversion of existing songs to create a new one...;)

7. Ok, waiting for the fix...;)

BTW, perhaps I used the word GLOBAL wrong? Does it mean that it is set for ALL track in ONE song only, OR, for all songs and all tracks in a batch?

Just for the curious; Here is a song, inverted/Negated from Steve Hackett's "Hands of the Priestess"

Interesting. I don't know the original tune so I can't say how "good" or "bad" this "alternative take" is. :)

Ok, I try a trick here, that Pipeline teached us over in the BiaB forum, attach a file not accepted, like midifiles here, by change the .mid extension to .jpg... when downloading it, just change back the extension to .mid again.. In that way, we don't have to upload small files to dropbox first, then post the links only... Let's see if it works:
