Using the soundfonts

Using the soundfonts

All:
I am new to this and completely confused. Background - I am taking online guitar lessons and the instructor sends me backing tracks using TEFview. For a while it all worked on my Win10 machine but then it all stopped. The support guy at TablEdit suggested I download Coolsoft Virtual Midi Synth. I did that only to learn that I now have to download Soundfonts. I have tried that several times with no luck. So . . . . anyone know how I download and safe the soundfonts and how I get all this crap to work together?

You can find SoundFonts in many places. A SoundFont is just a file that you save somewhere, you do not need to perform any special installation tricks. However, you must of course "tell" your Virtual Synth which SoundFont to use. You can go here to have a look at my list of links to various SoundFont sites:
