The problem with VST buses is that they are applied to MIDI CHANNELS and not to tracks.
This is because the track information is lost when the notes have been rendered. All note data is then put into one of the midi channel buffers and VST effects are applied to these buffers.

I managed to load the VST file (it is VST effect, not an instrument) without problems.

Okay, got the VST not loading sorted out by installing "msvcr71.dll".
However, regarding to the VST buses: I assigned my drum tracks to the extended MIDI channels (> 15) and during my work this behaves 100% correctly. The problem is that the arrangement is not getting saved/reloaded properly.

Here's a new test version:

Elven, In the Pianoroll graph, click the right mouse button for a menu. The last item will let you turn on/off drawing of a black border around all notes.

Yes, mike, the was a bug: the VST bus for a track with "extended" midi channel was not restored from the arrangement. It was SAVED, but not restored. This is fixed now.

This version has many changes in the synth engine in order to conform better with the SoundFont modulators standard. The implementation is pretty complete now, a number or bugs has been fixed, but nothing new has been added to the modulator implementation.

Also Viena has been updated to reflect all these changes. The latest version is here:

The file contains both the stand-alone program and the DLL for SynthFont2.

Okay, the VST buses on the extended MIDI channels now get saved and reloaded properly.
However, after reloading the arrangement the VST effects on those buses won't process the audio (plugins show silence and audio stays "normal").

Edit (another issue found):
Okay, just noticed that MIDI files with Portamento currently have a BIG problem with their pitch. The notes play and glide at completely wrong pitch (patterns sounds very random).

Fixed (tried to -) the reported bugs. Here is the next test version:

Portamento seems to work now. Also the use of VST effects with extended midi channels should be ok now.
