Okay, I see what you are looking for. There is a special type of arrangement "for MIDI input mode" which you can find in the menu item File. I must say I haven't tested this feature for a very long time, but please give it a shot.

No, even an un-registered version will let you save an Arrangement.
I'm not sure I get what you are after... The MIDI input PORT you choose in "Setup and Options" and your selection there is saved in a configuration file, not an Arrangement. Maybe you need to tell me more.

Forgot to mention: the first time you use this version it may still try to use the wrong output, but - hopefully - it will save the correct one and find it again on the next run.
