Re: What a great program! (Viena SoundFont Editor)

Hi Sir! Thanks for your kind words. It is a very old project that started off as a small support tool for my MAJOR project: SynthFont. SoundFonts had been falling into decline in the beginning of the 2000's and at some stage people were praising GIGASOUND files (*.gig) as the only real sample packag...

Re: How do you export SF2 samples to WAV files?

Currently the easiest way to do it is to save a "Definitions" file. This file is the SoundFont in readable text format, with extension .csv . All sample are saved in a folder. But no note that sample names may not be equal to the ones in the SoundFont. Look in the "Definitions" f...

Re: VSTSynthFont failed to load

I will need to investigate this...
There is always the "backup" to restore VSTSynthFont to default by deleting/renaming the file:
C:\Users\<YOU>\AppData\Roaming\SynthFont\VSTSynthFont.ini
Start from fresh!

Re: Using the Definitions file concept.

The samples do not need to contain the loop points as these are exported in the column "Loop S-E" in the definitions file. See heading:
"Samples,Name,Loop S-E,Root key,Correction,File name,Folder"

Re: drag'n'drop GUI ?

Yes, I HAVE had this in mind and even made some tests, many years ago. It was based on the idea that you, in one window, would have to the left a list of all the audio files you want to use (so you wouldn't drag files from the Explorer directly), and from there you could drag them into a matrix on t...

Re: Using the Definitions file concept.

I kind of agree, when you get the hang of it, it is a lot easier to use a text editor like Notepad. For example, to create new copies of an instrument, you simple copy and paste lines. Very straightforward.

Re: Add Samples In Folder

The tool "Soundero" was made according to one user's specifications and needs. Ir was supposed to be a very simple tool to create a new basic SoundFont on which it would be easy to build. Yes, it is much created according the functionality offered in Add Samples, with a few more options. T...

Re: Add Samples In Folder

Right now it looks like your best option would be to learn to use the so called "Definitions" file concept. A Definitions file is basically a text file describing the SoundFont, in comma separated format (extension .csv), which can be edited with any text editor, but much better in a sprea...

Re: Using the Definitions file concept.

Hi John, Sorry for not being of much help. Lately Viena has been of much less importance than anything else. I had a quick look into the issue, and the "ImportDefinitionsFile" function, but the exception report was not very helpful (not your fault!). I was thinking that the best option wou...
