Re: Viena 0.999 Purge Problem

Thanks John,
I've spent literally days - if not weeks - trying to reproduce this behavior, but with no luck. If you think you can reproduce it an send me the instructions I would jump of joy!

Re: VSTSynthFont hangs when playing instruments for the first time

Mike, looking into the issue now. One question: have you ever tested my midi port (=your keyboard's port) player, SyFonOne? It has basically the same synth engine as the VST instrument but as it runs in its own thread there's very little risk that your keyboard jams. Just set it up to hook to your k...

Re: VSTSynthFont hangs when playing instruments for the first time

Hi Mike,
I will look into it. It sounds like a possible reason for the host (any host) to get locked up for a short while, especially if the SoundFont is large. I could include an option to have the VST load the complete SoundFont into memory at startup, of course. Like in SyFonOne. I'll think about.

Re: SynthFont2 cannot load Faust VST effect

Well, well... I gave it a try but SynthFont2 would still not accept the Faust generated DLL on my computer. I got the error message "Invalid access to memory location" from Windows when loading the DLL (using the standard Windows LoadLibrary function). REPAER though managed to load the file, so righ...

Re: How to assign a soundfont to each note?

There is actually a third alternative: You can create a SoundFont in which, for one or several Presets (aka Instruments), each note or range of notes plays a different sound. You an use my SoundFont editor Viena to achieve this, quite easily.

Re: How to assign a soundfont to each note?

When using a midi file , there are two ways to achieve this effect: 1) if two (or several) notes are played in sequence (not fully at the same time) you can insert a midi program change event between each note and thereafter assign a new SoundFont/Preset to each of these program changes 2) this seco...

Re: Using the soundfonts

You can find SoundFonts in many places. A SoundFont is just a file that you save somewhere, you do not need to perform any special installation tricks. However, you must of course "tell" your Virtual Synth which SoundFont to use. You can go here to have a look at my list of links to various SoundFon...

Re: Synthfont1 MIDI file help

Have you Windows set to hide extensions of known files? If so, try to change the setting to see what extension each file has.
